His story

When the angels came to Ibrahim on their way to Lut's people, his wife was standing by. She laughed, and they gave her the good news of Ishaq, and after Ishaq, Ya'qub (11:71). She wondered how she could bear a child when she was old and her husband was old (11:72). Ibrahim thanked Allah for granting him Isma'il and Ishaq in his old age (14:39), and Ishaq was given as a prophet, one of the righteous (37:112).

The scholars quoted by islamweb differ on why she laughed. Some say it was relief after fear, some say joy at the news, and some say wonder at bearing a child so late.

[1299] This verifies that the firstborn son who was to be sacrificed was Ishmael and not Isaac, as claimed by the Jews and Christians.
