His story

Harun was the brother of Musa. Musa asked Allah to make Harun his helper from his family and to strengthen him through him (20:29-32), and Allah granted his request (20:36). Both were sent to Pharaoh together, as messengers of his Lord (20:47). islamweb's fatwa states that Harun was both a prophet and a messenger, and that on this there is no disagreement.

When Musa went to the appointed meeting, he left Harun in charge of their people (7:142). In his absence they took to worshipping the calf.
