Their story

When the deniers of the resurrection challenged the Prophet ﷺ to bring their forefathers back, the Quran asked whether they were better than the people of Tubba' and those before them, who were destroyed for their crimes (44:37). They are named again among the peoples who denied the messengers (50:14).

As-Sa'di explains that Tubba' was the title of every king of Yemen before Islam. His people denied the messenger Allah sent them, and Allah has not told us who that messenger was, nor which Tubba' is meant, because the story was well known among the Arabs. Those who deny the Prophet ﷺ, he says, are no better than they were.
