Parables of the QuranA parable of the Quran · Ar-Room 30:28

Partners from among yourselves

You would not accept your own servants as equal partners in your wealth; how then do you give Allah partners from His creation?

Quran

What it means

Allah strikes a parable from your own lives: do you have, among those your right hands possess, partners in what We have provided, so that you are equal in it and fear them as you fear one another (30:28)?

As-Sa'di explains that it shows the ugliness of associating partners with Allah: you would never accept your servants as equal partners in your wealth, though you did not create or provide for them; how then can you make one of Allah's creatures His partner in worship? It is struck for those who reason.

QuranAr-Room (The Romans)Quran 30:28

He presents to you an example from yourselves. Do you have among those whom your right hands possess [i.e., slaves] any partners in what We have provided for you so that you are equal therein [and] would fear them as your fear of one another [within a partnership]?[1144] Thus do We detail the verses for a people who use reason.

28. He sets forth for you a parable from your ownselves: Do you have partners among those whom your right hands possess (i.e. your slaves) to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you whom you fear as you fear each other? Thus do We explain the signs in detail to a people who have sense.[2]

[2] (V.30:28) That is: How do you join to Us partners of that which We created, while you for yourselves will not accept partners from your slaves?.
