Praising Allah on waking

حمد الله عند الاستيقاظ

On waking he ﷺ praised Allah for giving life back after sleep.

Sahih

The practice

When the Prophet ﷺ woke, he praised Allah who gives life after sleep, which is a kind of death, and to whom is the return. Hudhayfa reports this in al-Bukhari and Muslim.

islamweb's fatwa gathers the remembrances of waking, and adds one in at-Tirmidhi, graded hasan by al-Albani, thanking Allah for the health of the body and the return of the soul.
